Breathtaking glacier, mountain and water views. Take a scenic journey to 2,300 feet above sea level, find two mountain-top restaurants. Activities include hiking, sightseeing and Roundhouse Museum. The 60-passenger Alyeska Aerial Tram offers expansive views for guests of all ages. The scenic ride takes 3 to 5 minutes with plenty of opportunity to take in views and spot wildlife. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education and quality animal care. AWCC takes in injured and orphaned animals and provides them with a permanent home. The Center plays host to numerous educational and daily guest programs, including the Walk on the Wild Side tour, where you can get a closer look at the Alaska Wildlife that makes its home here. Choose between driving the 1.5-mile loop, or spend your time walking through the 200 acres that make up the AWCC Campus. Involved in international conservation projects, including the Wood Bison Restoration Project, where the Center is caring for the once thought extinct Wood Bison. Additionally, the Center plays host to orphaned black and brown bears, moose, elk, lynx, caribou, muskox and more. |
